Michael was honored to have been chosen to work at the site that means so much to American heritage. This dining facility also has the distinction of being the highest traffic restaurant in New York, serving more than two million visitors annually. The interior echoes the warmth of the Statue with a palette of rich panels and tones. “Chemetal” gives the appearance of copper in the decorative and functional metalwork. The materials selected for the facility meet the aesthetic, durability and sanitary needs requirements for serving 1,500 people an hour.
The project included the logistical challenge of building on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, requiring delivery of all the materials by boat. All work also had to be performed while the restaurant remained open for business
